Printable Batteries of All Shapes and Sizes
Korean researchers have developed a whole new kind of lithium ion battery cell that can be printed in a thin layer of any shape onto electronic devices. Conventional lithium ion batteries used in various mobile devices such as smartphones and laptops required a separate space within the device to hold the battery. This newly developed battery can be printed onto objects, making it possible to manufacture customized batteries for various devices rapidly and at low cost. If successfully commercialized, it is expected to play a definitive role in the development of the wearable device market.

Catch Cats, an interactive fishing pole toy, helps keep the cat entertained and active when the owner is away. An embedded touch sensor instantly reacts to the cat's movements, waving the rod around. The smart toy is the brainchild of a local startup company and a one-person business, Little Boy Cyan. The CEO of the company, a cat aficionado himself, shares how he came to develop a toy for cats.

The Carbon Footprint of the Internet
A Google search can generate 0.2 grams of carbon dioxide. With the exploding use of the internet, data centers worldwide consume large amounts of energy and produce enormous heat to maintain their systems and servers. Nearly 50 percent of power consumption by these facilities is directed at keeping the servers from overheating. We take a look at how advances in the internet are affecting the environment.
