"We are members of Korea's national team."
Though they may represent Korea, there is one team that receives no recognition: The Korean national cricket team.
Cricket is one of the world's top three sports, with a global fanbase of 2.2 billion people. However, in Korea it is relatively unknown. Cricket was the only sport among 42 categories at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games that South Korea did not compete in.
But South Korea does indeed have a national cricket team. The players work multiple jobs to pay for tournament fees and deal with the wear and tear of their uniforms with needle and thread. It is their passion for cricket that has brought them together in solidarity. Through their story, we can rediscover what it takes to achieve a dream, no matter how lofty it may be.
A team lost and forgotten, a dream that refuses to be ignored. Korea's national cricket team faces an uphill battle, but their journey to win the gold is a story of hope for all.
