The Director General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros, is warning that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet.
Speaking Wednesday in a media briefing, he said COVID-19 cases have increased in 110 countries.
“This pandemic is changing, but it's not over. We had made progress, but it's not over.”
WHO said Wednesday that the number of COVID-19 infections currently around the world rose in the past week by 18%, the third week in a row they've risen.
Dr. Tedros also said deaths have risen in three of the six WHO regions Europe, Americas and the Western Pacific.
He mentioned that in low-income countries, only 13 percent of people have been vaccinated.
More than 12 billion vaccines, he said, have been distributed since they became available about 18 months ago.
