World News: Celebrations and clashes as Pride parades take place around the world Updated: 2022-06-27 05:01:55 KST

The weekend saw annual Pride parades take place across the world from Mexico City to Paris and Toronto
But pride celebrations planned in Turkiye's Istanbul came to a halt as authorities blocked hundreds of people from gathering for the city parade on Sunday, while dozens more were arrested.
This comes after local officials banned the march again this year, in light of a toughened stance on LGBTQ freedoms by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Meanwhile a deadly shooting took place in the early hours of Saturday in and nearby a gay bar in the Norwegian capital, Oslo.
The incident came just ahead of the city's annual Pride festival, and is being investigated as a terrorist attack.
Two people were killed and 21 wounded in the shooting, not long before the start of the Oslo Pride Parade.
Police in Norway say they're investigating it as a terrorist incident because of the number of dead and injured.
The suspect is a Norwegian citizen of Iranian descent who was caught at the scene.
The Pride parade was officially canceled, but hundreds of people demonstrated near the scene later in the day.
