South Korea's trade minister, Yoo Myung-hee, is making a final push to win support for her bid to become the new director-general of the World Trade Organization.
Seoul's trade ministry said on Saturday that Minister Yoo has made requests in the past ten days for endorsements from European countries, including Switzerland, the UK and Belgium.
Most of these countries, it said, have pledged their support.
She also has the backing of countries in Latin America and Africa.
The members of the WTO will choose a new director-general by November 7th.
The other candidate is the Nigerian economist Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
Either way, the WTO is set to have its first woman leader in its 25-year history.
