Korea is well known as one of the largest steelmaking countries in the world, and with good reason.
According to recent figures from industry sources, Korea's POSCO runs three of the world's 10 largest blast furnaces, including the biggest one, measuring 6-thousand cubic meters in inner volume, which started newly operating in June.
That's about 200 cubic meters larger than the second largest furnace in the world, China's Sagang furnace.
The other world-class blast furnaces can be found in Japan and Russia.
