It is the monster fish that is worth a fortune in Japan
A huge bluefin tuna has sold for a record-breaking 1.8 million U.S. dollars in the year's first auction at Japan's Tsukiji fish market.
This is nearly three times more than the previous record price set last year.
The tuna, which weighs in at a staggering 222-kilograms, was bought by Kiyoshi Kimura, president of the company that runs the popular Sushi-Zanmai chain.
Japan consumes three-quarters of the global bluefin catch, a highly prized sushi ingredient dubbed the "black diamond" because of its scarcity.
