S. Korea reports 178,574 new COVID-19 cases Thursday Updated: 2022-08-18 17:19:04 KST

South Korea today again reported around 180-thousand new cases of COVID-19.
This is a slight decline from the day before, which was the highest figure in four months.
But infections among people arriving from overseas reached an all-time high of 6-hundred-33, passing the previous record set last week.
The country also reported 61 more COVID-19 deaths while the number of severe cases stands at 4-hundred-70.
South Korea has been seeing the Omicron subvariant BA.5 spread quickly during the summer vacation season.
And with concerns growing about a rise in reinfections, the health authorities are advising people, including those who have already been infected, to get their third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine if they haven't done so already.
