COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on global youth labor market: ILO Updated: 2022-08-12 14:05:14 KST

According to the International Labour Organization, the COVID-19 pandemic has done a disproportionate amount of damage to employment among young people.
An official at the UN agency said Thursday that people between the ages of 15 and 24 are lagging behind other age groups.
Especially vulnerable are first-time job seekers.
The number of unemployed young people globally is expected to reach 73 million this year, about six million more than before the pandemic.
The highest and fastest-growing unemployment rates for young people were in Arab countries, where it's projected to rise this year to almost 25 percent.
