President Yoon Suk-yeol is back to work after a week-long summer break.
Asked by reporters on his way to work Monday about whether South Korea should join the U.S.-led chip supply chain framework, the so-called Chip Four, here's what he had to say.
"Each ministry is closely looking into the matter from the perspective of our national interest. You don't need to worry about it too much. We will discuss the issue with relevant ministries and protect our national interest."
The South Korean government has reportedly relayed its intent to hold talks with the U.S. on the matter.
President Yoon also said his vacation was an opportunity to look back on the job he's done so far from the election campaign, saying he'll focus even more on enacting the will of the people.
