Protesters in Lebanon storm bakeries amid deepening food crisis Updated: 2022-07-29 09:12:44 KST

Protesters in Lebanon stormed bakeries and pastry shops amid the country's deepening food crisis.
Patience ran out on Wednesday, as people vented their frustrations over hours-long queues in the scorching heat for state-subsidized bread.
The protests and fights among queueing residents forced soldiers to intervene.
The food crisis has been made worse by the war in Ukraine, where Lebanon gets much of its grain from.
There have also been reports of flour being stolen to be sold in Syria.
Meanwhile, Lebanon's economy minister says a shipment of 49-thousand metric tons of wheat is expected to arrive by the end of the week.
