The first heatwave warning of the season was been issued across the capital region today. Extreme heat of 30 degrees Celsius is forecast to continue until Wednesday. Maximum temperatures in Seoul will be similar tomorrow, at 34 degrees Celsius. Scorching conditions will be prevalent across other inland regions as well. For the next few days, tropical nights with lows of 25 degrees will grip the nation.
Meanwhile, the fourth typhoon of the season Aere will not directly affect South Korea. Typhoon Aere is forecast to make landfall on Japan's southern island of Kyushu tomorrow. But this will cause a more intense heatwave for South Korea as the typhoon may bring hot and humid air into the Peninsula. The South Coast and Jeju Island will be under a slight influence of this typhoon, as high waves across the coastlines are expected.
Mostly cloudy skies are expected for the morning hours. Lows in Seoul will start off at 25 degrees.
Due to the unstable air, inland regions will see brief showers for the daytime. Daejeon will get up to 34 degrees. Chuncheon 33. Gyeongju 32 degrees.
Along with the scorching temperatures, scattered outbreaks of rain are in the forecast until Wednesday.
