South Korea has reported its FIRST heat-related death this year.
The interior ministry says a man in his 40s had collapsed while moving farm produce at a market in Gyeongsangnam-do Province on Friday.
He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The news comes as parts of the region reported the highest temperatures of the year on Sunday prompting authorities to issue heat wave alerts.
They advised special caution for those who are vulnerable to inclement weather including construction workers elderly farmers and senior single-person households.
