It's Independence Day weekend in the United States, and ahead of the holiday on Monday, July 4th, American airports are almost as busy as they were before the pandemic, but airlines are struggling to cope with the volume.
According to the Transportation Security Administration, about 2.4-9 million passengers went through airport security on Friday, which is a new record in the pandemic.
In the week prior, the daily average was 2.3-3 million, compared to 2.3-8 million for the same period in 2019.
Demand for travel is back despite extraordinarily high prices for flights.
But as of Saturday evening, almost 4-thousand flights were reportedly delayed and 600 were canceled.
