At least 51 migrants from Mexico and Central America have died after being trapped inside a sweltering truck trailer abandoned in San Antonio, Texas.
The trailer had no air conditioning or signs of water, and authorities suspect that the victims suffered from heat stroke and dehydration.
Investigators said three people believed to be part of a human trafficking ring have been taken into police custody, while two men are facing federal charges in connection with the incident.
It is unclear if the two men charged are among the three people detained.
Texas has been experiencing a record-breaking heatwave, and temperatures soared above 38 degrees Celsius on Monday.
