The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has approved South Korea's first domestically developed COVID-19 vaccine.
It's from SK Bioscience, and it's called G-B-P-5-1-0 or (Sky-ko-vee-won) SKYCovione.
On Wednesday, it was given so-called "item approval," meaning the vaccine itself is now approved.
Clinical trials were completed earlier this year.
Commercial approval would be the next step, possibly later this year, according to SK Bioscience, depending on quarantine guidelines.
The company is also going to try to get it on the WHO's list of vaccines for emergency use.
(Sky-ko-vee-won) SKYCovione was approved for adults over 18, with two doses to be administered in a four-week interval.
