Protests continue across US voice anger over SCOTUS ruling Updated: 2022-06-27 05:36:24 KST

Protests continued over the weekend across the U.S., following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn the constitutional right to have an abortion.
The ruling was made in a 6 to 3 conservative majority vote, and will likely see more than half of U.S. states implement or consider a ban on abortion.
Speaking in the wake of the ruling on Sunday, leading Democratic women Senator Elizabeth Warren and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called on President Joe Biden and Congress to protect abortion rights by using federal land, as a safe haven for those who wish to have an abortion.
The measure could be used in states that ban or severely restrict the practice.
Going further, Senator Warren added that the Supreme Court has lost its legitimacy and needs more justices.

" I believe we need to get some confidence back in our court, and that means we need more justices on the United States Supreme Court"

Meanwhile, celebrities have had their say on the landmark decision, with Marvel star Chris Hemsworth saying it is a massive step backwards, while singers Olivia Rodrigo and Lily Allen performed a song at the Glastonbury Music Festival in response to the ruling.
