With world leaders gathering for the G7 Summit in Germany, to discuss further sanctions on Moscow, Russia has ramped up attacks on Ukraine.
Russian missiles hit an apartment block as well as a kindergarten in the capital city of Kyiv on Sunday, marking the first such attack there in weeks.
The city's deputy mayor says one person was killed and six others wounded.
Russian missiles also struck the central city of Cherkasy, killing one person, and destroying a strategic bridge linking western Ukraine and the eastern battlefields.
Ukraine's military officials say the attacks were carried out using long-range missiles fired from Russian bombers more than one thousand kilometers away.
