S. Korean golfer Chun In-gee becomes three-time major LPGA champion Updated: 2022-06-27 17:06:18 KST

South Korean golf player Chun In-gee has won a major Women's PGA Championship for the third time.
At the Congressional Country Club's Blue Course in Bethesda, Maryland on Sunday local time, Chun took first place at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship.
Finishing on a five-under 283, Chun, a 27-year-old from South Korea held off Lexi Thompson of the United States and Minjee Lee of Australia,by one shot.
Chun overcame a bogey-filled front nine and closed her victory,by taking a three-stroke lead into the final round with a 3-over 75.
She was leading by six shots at the tournament's halfway point, but stumbled to a 75 in the third round and lost her 3-shot advantage after just three holes in the final round.
Chun regained her lead on the 17th and won her third championship with a clutch par putt on the final hole.
Winning her first major at the U.S. Women's Open in 2015,she has held the champion's trophy with four LPGA wins, with three of them coming at majors.
Its her first tour victory since October 2018, ending South Korea's title drought in big tournaments after seven attempts.
