Nuclear regulators in the UAE have issued an operating licence for the third unit of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant built by South Korea.
The Korea Electric Power Corp on Sunday said the subsidiary operator Nawah will start loading fuel and prepare for commercial operation.
The CEO of KEPCO said the company has achieved one more of its goals now that three out of four units of the nuclear plant have been licensed.
The Barakah Nuclear Power Plan is the Arab world's first multi-unit operating nuclear energy plant in Abu Dhabi.
The construction contract was won by KEPCO in 2009, marking the first export of a homegrown commercial atomic power plant by South Korea.
