N. Korea claims no. of COVID-19 cases has drops to below 40,000 Updated: 2022-06-13 17:45:08 KST

It's been a month since North Korea reported its first case of COVID-19, and now the regime claims that its daily tally has dropped to below 40-thousand.
The North's state media on Monday reported around 36-thousand 710 cases from 6 PM Saturday to 6 PM Sunday.
That's a huge drop compared to May 15th's total of over 390-thousand.
Monday's report didn't include the number of new deaths or the total of death toll.
South Korea's Unification Ministry said Monday that the North could announce within this month that the crisis is over.
But voices of doubts linger as the total deaths -- which was at 72 on June 11th -- is low and reports appear to be published to maintain calm among the North Korean people.
