The number of new cases of COVID-19 in South Korea today came to 16-thousand 5-hundred-84.
That's around 2-thousand fewer cases than yesterday, and marks the lowest number for a Friday since late January.
There were 40 more deaths.
The number of severely ill at 207.
In today's meeting on the country's virus measures Prime Minister Han Duck-soo said the government is going to encourage doctors to prescribe COVID-19 medication for people 60 and older and other high risk groups on the same day they test positive.
