South Korea logged 28,130 new COVID-19 infections on Thursday.
That's down more than 3,000 from the previous day.
It's also the lowest figure on a Thursday in 15 weeks.
There were 40 related deaths.
The number of critically ill at 274.
Health authorities on Friday will announce whether the country will transition to the so-called "landing phase" of the pandemic.
