The number of coronavirus cases reported today in South Korea came to 28,one-hundred-30, the lowest figure for a Thursday since early February.
It was a decline from the day before of more than 3-thousand.
There were 40 deaths, and there were 274 people severely ill.
The health authorities on Friday will announce whether the country is going to transition now to the so-called "landing phase" of the pandemic.
This would mean infected people will no longer have to self-isolate for 7 days.
They might also allow in-person visits at nursing homes beyond the current cut-off this Sunday.
These facilities have seen a drop in cases even after in-person visits were resumed in late April.
