India sends 2,000 tonnes of wheat to war-torn Afghanistan Updated: 2022-05-17 06:16:32 KST

Over to India where fifty thousand-metric-tons of wheat left the northern town of Attari for Afghanistan on Monday.
Travelling in a consignment of 40 trucks, the move fulfils India's pledge to supply wheat to the conflict-hit country.
Delivered through the World Food Program, The United Nations agency has already dispatched ten thousand-tonnes of the wheat to Afghanistan through its neighbor, Pakistan.
The donation comes as India banned wheat exports last week as a heatwave hit crops although it will honor its humanitarian aid pledges to Afghanistan until July.
