The Chinese city of Shanghai on Wednesday logged one of its lowest COVID-19 tallies since authorities put the city under lockdown six weeks ago.
A total of 1-thousand 4-hundred 87 new cases were reported which was down by more than half from Monday's tally.
This was the first time in 16 daysthat the daily COVID-19 figure was in the 1-thousand range.
China's capital, Beijing is also grappling with the virus.
Over 800 of its buildings are being inspected under lockdown.
Accordingly, Beijing has decided to temporarily close off major tourist attractions in the city and its biggest shopping centers.
