A U.S. State Department official has reportedly condemned North Korea's missile launches but says the U.S. remains committed to achieving the regime's denuclearization via diplomacy.
This is according to Seoul-based Yonhap News Agency, which says the official replied by e-mail on Wednesday, which was before today's launch, saying the ballistic missile tests by the North violate multiple UN Security Council resolutions and pose a threat to the country's neighbors and the international community.
And on the phone Thursday, the top nuclear envoys of South Korea and the U.S. also shared their "deep concerns" over the launches, and agreed to expand cooperation with related parties for the resumption of dialogue with the North.
