North Korea appears to have launched two cruise missiles this morning in what would be the regime's fifth missile test so far this month.
South Korean military officials said this afternoon that the missiles were fired from an "inland area" and that the military is currently assessing the launches to verify the details.
The officials declined to say which direction the missiles were fired only that it was not toward the East Sea.
But they did say that if they'd been fired toward South Korea, then they could be detected and intercepted.
Unlike ballistic missiles, which fly to extremely high altitudes and have longer ranges, cruise missiles are not banned under the UN sanctions on Pyeongyang.
