Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai held a video call with the president of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach on Sunday, stating that she was safe and well.
The video call comes following a nearly three-week public absence after she alleged that a former senior Chinese official sexually assaulted her.
According to the IOC, Peng thanked everyone for their concerns, noting that she's currently in Beijing, while requesting to have her privacy respected.
While photos and videos of Peng at a tournament in Beijing on Sunday dampened international concern for her safety, France's foreign minister had earlier called on the Chinese authorities to provide more reassurance, echoing a statement by the Women's Tennis Association that the images were "insufficient" proof.
Beijing has yet to comment on Peng's allegation, while the topic has been blocked from discussion on China's heavily censored internet.
