South Korean government announced its plans to extend the nation's healthy life expectancy by 2.9 years,. to 73.three by 2030.
Healthy life expectancy is the average life of people in good health with no illness or disease.
It's been 70.4 years since 2018, which is 12 years shorter than the total life expectancy.
Also in Wednesday's announcement, the health ministry proposed reducing the nation's smoking and drinking prevalence.
For that, it plans to raise the prices of cigarettes and liquors by charging consumers with public health contribution fees,and enhancing related restrictions.
