Demand for mental health care services in South Korea rose during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic with visits to mental health clinics increasing by nearly 10-percent on-year and payments for these visits by 18-percent in the first half of 2020.
According to the Korea Insurance Research Institute today, there were significantly more people who suffered from sleep disorder or depression during this time with the number of patients rising the most in February.
The most visits were made by those in their 20s and their 30s.
