President Moon puts KDCA commissioner in charge of facilitating COVID-19 vaccination process Updated: 2021-01-16 09:09:11 KST

President Moon Jae-in was briefed on the nation's Covid-19 vaccine rollout scheme on Friday.
He gave the K-D-C-A chief full authority in leading, and orchestrating the pan-government vaccination campaign.

President Moon Jae-in is putting Commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, Jeong Eun-kyeong, in charge of facilitating the Covid-19 vaccination process.
After being briefed by Jeong on the Covid-19 vaccination preparation plan, President Moon asked her on Friday to lead all steps of the process, including preservation, transportation, inoculation, and checking the effectiveness of the vaccine to facilitate herd immunity.
Commissioner Jeong said she will mobilize all available resources to launch a vaccination response team made up from related ministries.
The vaccination process has been divided into five steps.
The first step is the authorization of vaccines by the Ministry of Drug Safety.
Next is transportation which the Transportation Ministry and an air transport support task force will be in charge of.
The third step is the preservation and distribution of the vaccine which will be supported by the Defense Ministry.
Next is inoculation preparation and then the rollout, which a vaccination support group will be in charge of.
Commissioner Jeong said she will establish clear guidelines based on a transparent and fair process.
President Moon emphasized that maintaining the public's trust in the vaccinations is most important, stressing that public cooperation and trust in disease prevention measures has been the reason behind the country's successful containment of the virus.
He also said the public should be informed about the process in detail.
