A new law takes effect tomorrow specifying the help South Korean nationals can get from the South Korean government if they find themselves in legal trouble or other emergencies overseas.
The law says that local consulates and embassies will provide people in need with a list of lawyers and/or interpreters.
In case of disaster, if necessary, the government will dispatch an emergency response team.
The law also stipulates what South Korean nationals must do themselves when overseas to secure their own safety.
