Pope Francis, former Pope Benedict XVI get first shot of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine Updated: 2021-01-15 10:05:06 KST

Pope Francis and former Pope Benedict XVI (the sixteenth) have received their first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
The vaccination campaign started in the Vatican on Wednesday, and according to a spokesman, the first doses have been administered to both the current and former popes.
At 84 and 93, both men are in the high-risk group because of their advanced age.
Pope Francis has been a strong advocate of COVID-19 vaccinations, even calling a refusal to get vaccinated "ethically unacceptable".
