About 11% of French population have COVID-19: Pasteur Institute Updated: 2020-12-04 10:02:47 KST

A new study shows about one in ten people in France have COVID-19, far higher than the official count.
According to Le Monde Thursday, the Pasteur Institute estimates an 11 percent infection rate among the population based on the number of COVID-19 patients in hospital.
This translates into seven.three million cases, more than three times higher than the official count of two.26 million.
The institute also forecast the country's reproductive 'R' rate will bounce back to one.one by mid-December if the country lifts its lockdown.
