South Korea sees surge in local COVID-19 transmissions Updated: 2020-08-13 10:20:59 KST

South Korea confirmed 56 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, the second straight day of more than 50 cases.
Of the new cases, 47 were transmitted locally and 9 were imported.
41 of those cases came from Seoul and Gyeonggi-do Province.
The infections were linked to churches as well as workers from a fast food chain in Seoul and some high school students in Gyeonggi-do Province.
This brings the total number of cases to fourteen,seven-hundred-70.
There were no additional deaths, leaving the death toll at three-hundred-five.
