Typhoon Jangmi approaches southern parts of Korea Updated: 2020-08-10 07:05:27 KST

Good morning. Typhoon Jangmi is on its way toward Korea. Rain clouds that formed due to the typhoon are already bringing torrential rain to Gyeongsang-do and Jeollanam-do Provinces.

Heavy rain alerts are in place there, and a typhoon advisory is in place in Jeju and the surrounding waters. As the typhoon travels northeast, those typhoon alerts will be expanded.

For a closer look at when the typhoon will be the closest it'll pass Jeju by 11 AM and reach Busan by mid-afternoon, passing near Gyeongju by 6 PM today. Stay alert, the typhoon will bring strong winds and torrential rain.

Jeju and the southern parts of the country could receive up to 150 millimeters of rain possibly more than 250 millimeters into tomorrow.

Afternoon highs will be hovering above 30 degrees Celsius this afternoon. Stay safe and look out for any signs of landslides.
