U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly planning on holding a 5G summit with global tech leaders at the White House this April.
CNBC, citing a government source, reported Friday that the White House is planning on holding a 5G summit around April. The summit is part of efforts to keep Chinese telecom giant Huawei from becoming dominant in next generation communications technology.
The source said that representatives from IT firms from Washington's allies will be invited, including Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung Electronics.
According to the report, the move is aimed at urging allies not to allow Huawei equipment into their telecommunications networks and also to gather up-to-date information in the tech area from participants.
