S. Korea to keep 513% tariff on rice imports from 5 countries Updated: 2020-01-28 16:50:45 KST

After five years of negotiations, South Korea will be allowed to keep its tariff on imported rice of over 500 percent.
That'll apply to five countries China, the U.S., Vietnam, Thailand and Australia.
South Korea's agriculture ministry announced today that the World Trade Organization issued a certificate last Friday approving the tariff.
Korea first imposed it in 2014, but its trading partners later the same year filed a complaint with the WTO.
But as of last November, they had resolved the issue and sent letters to notify the WTO to that effect.
