S. Korea, Japan to hold talks at WTO on Friday over Tokyo's export restrictions Updated: 2019-10-11 07:06:08 KST

South Korea and Japan are set for bilateral talks at the World Trade Organization in Geneva Friday local time exactly one hundred days after Tokyo began imposing export curbs on Seoul.
South Korea's Director General for Trade Legal Affairs Chung Hae-kwan, who is leading the South Korean delegation, said he plans to seek early solutions with his Japanese counterpart.
Chung said he will clearly point out how Japan's actions violate WTO rules and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade.
But he added that, if the talks do not go well, Seoul will send a formal request to set up a dispute settlement body at the WTO to make a ruling on the matter.
