To deal with a range of emerging risks like deepfake videos and fake news, the National Human Rights Commission of Korea has released a set of guidelines on protecting human rights in the development and use of Artificial Intelligence.
The document released Wednesday includes six broad rules that public and private institutions should follow.
For one, it says AI should be used in ways that protect people's dignity, their right to pursue happiness, and their autonomy.
It also advises the government to come up with a system for assessing the human rights impact of A-I.
The commission will ask government ministers to use the guidelines in creating and amending policy, with oversight provided by the Prime Minister.
