How to enjoy travel around Korea safely amid COVID-19
Updated: 2020-07-17 10:28:53 KST

A small group of people all wearing masks get on the train at the almost deserted Ganhyeon Station.
These people have been chosen as participants of a tour package prepared by the Korea Tourism Organization.
The organization has designed travel courses for people of each age bracket, to support the domestic tourism industry suffering from the impact of COVID-19.
These courses are designed for people to travel in pairs or small family groups.
The city of Wonju in Gangwon-do Province has prepared a special itinerary for people in their twenties and thirties.
The first stop on the tour was Wonju Railpark, where the couples can pedal a railbike through hills and forests.

"I actually felt very stuffy these days but after riding a bike in an open space, I feel much happier."

"The next stop of the tour is the Miro Arts Jung-ang Market. People can enjoy taking pictures and shopping while finding their way through twisting pathways lined with small shops."

People were asked to keep their masks on and keep their distance from other groups while looking around.

"I was quite worried at first about traveling at this time due to COVID-19, but everyone is following safety measures better than I expected and as I traveled around wearing a mask, I was able to enjoy the trip."

The tour aims to show that it is still possible to get away this summer and refresh your mind and body.

"Korea Tourism Organization is emphasizing a safe trip. People who have taken part in our tour were asked to always keep their masks on, wash their hands frequently and to keep their distance from others. By following such measures, we can have a safe domestic trip."

As long as we follow such measures, we can still enjoy outdoor activities in the beauty of nature this summer.
