A lawyer for Mayor Park's former secretary, speaking on her behalf, said publicly today that the secretary was sexually harassed by Park over a period of FOUR years.
In a press conference Monday, the lawyer said her client had been sexually assaulted both physically and verbally since she started working for Park in 2017.
The behavior continued, she said, even after the secretary moved to another department.
The lawyer provided several examples of the alleged assaults -- with evidence -- and explained that the press briefing was held to call for a proper investigation.
The former secretary filed a police complaint last Wednesday, but the case was automatically dropped after Park was found dead the next day.
Meanwhile, ruling Democratic Party chairman Lee Hae-chan has made an official apology to the former secretary, as a fellow member of Park's party.
He offered words of consolation and vowed to stop such incidents from happening again.
The Presidential office of Cheong Wa Dae also issued a statement asking the public to stop criticizing the secretary in ways that might cause even more pain, and calling for joint efforts to help her and her family recover.
