Lockdowns and strict measures put in place by Italy over the past two weeks are leading to a positive stabilization in new coronavirus cases.
The WHO's top emergencies expert Mike Ryan said Monday that the current numbers in Italy are on a downward trend thanks to the strict measures put in place by the government.
However, he emphasized the need for vigilance going forward.
Italy is second to the United States in terms of the number of confirmed cases, but has seen the most number of deaths, at over 11-thousand.
