Baritone Lee Eung-kwang made a successful debut in Europe by winning the Alexander Girardi International Singing Competition in 2006. He earned recognition in Korea at a young age, emerging as a next-generation opera star and winning 14 international opera competitions to gain worldwide recognition. In 2008, he was invited as a permanent singer of the Basel Opera Theater in Switzerland, where he performed lead roles for seven years in such high-profile productions as "Madama Butterfly" and "The Marriage of Figaro," earning the nickname "the jewel of Switzerland." In July, he became the first singer at the Musica Riva Festival in Italy to successfully hold a solo recital, and now he is preparing for a nationwide tour.
