A survey has revealed that 35.8% of irregular and part-time workers have gone through changes at work since the pandemic. Accounting for nearly double the rate of the regular workers who have faced job security issues, part-time workers are under tremendous stress over whether they can retain their jobs. Here’s a movie that illustrates the reality of the irregular workers. Film [Capsule Coffee] zooms in on the psychological conflict between part-time worker ‘Min-joo’ whose contract at work is days from being terminated, and an HR team staff ‘Su-a,’ who is assigned to ask Min-joo to leave the job. Director Chung Hae-il tells us the underlying metaphors and relationship between the two characters and touches upon the message he intends to deliver in some of the film’s highlight moments.
