March 8th is International Women's Day, designated in honor of the 1908 garment workers' strike in New York, in which women protested unfair working conditions. The day arrived in Korea in 1920 by the country's first-generation feminists Na Hye-sok and Park In-deok, and official events started taking place in 1985 in order to improve the quality of women's lives.
