Kim He-ryun's solo exhibition was recently held to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Korean independence. Organized by the Ministry of Unification, the exhibition took place at the Unification Art Space at the far north of the Military Demarcation Line. The artist went to Berlin, Germany in 1990 soon after the Berlin Wall was demolished and studied there for 10 years. In the city bearing wounds of division, she realized the true status of Korea, which became the main inspiration of her artistry. Kim expresses her longing for unification with some 100 pieces of art, including "Your Face," inspired by a photo of North Korean soldiers, "Tree in the East" and "My Kites." Percussionist Choi So-ri, active in Seoul and Europe, held a concert under the theme of "Korean percussion music in the world." "So New – So Old; So Far – So near" is the first performance of the Korean Percussion Music in the World Series featuring Korean shamanistic music. Choi combines Korean traditional music with contemporary classical music with Taiwanese artist Ying-Hsueh Chen, expanding the realm of art as well as suggesting new possibilities of Korean percussion music.
