The 4thIndustrial Revolution is gaining attention as a solution to the prolonged period of slow global growth. The 4th Industrial Revolution refers to the creation of new elements through the convergence of new technologies encompassing the digital, physics-based and biological fields. With technologies being made more intelligent and better-connected, the 4th Industrial Revolution is changing the mechanics of industry as a whole and leading to innovations in our lives.
The CES convention, the world's largest consumer electronics convention which was held most recently starting on January 5th, was a showcase of 4thIndustrial Revolution technology. Both major companies and start-ups from Korea gathered attention by unveiling products using cutting-edge technology including artificial intelligence, IoT, self-driving cars and wearable devices.
Countries around the world are operating various policies to secure an advantage in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Korea is focusing on strengthening the software industry, which is to be at the center of the 4thIndustrial Revolution. Efforts include the operation of software convergence clusters that support software companies. Software education is also to be implemented, in order to foster personnel for the 4th Industrial Revolution.
