Korean researchers have developed 'optical shutter' technology that can rapidly change transparency levels of glass windows in just 0.1 seconds. Under the method, electrochromic materials are attached to the surface of fine particle structures sized 8 nanometers. Then, electricity is applied to change the color. It took minutes for previously commercialized products to change the window's color, but the latest technology just requires 0.1 seconds to change the color. We will look into smart optical shutter technology set to be applied to rear-view mirrors inside vehicles as well as dimmable windows.
